New Origin Restaurant Coming to Liberty Village

Rumours have been circulating online over the past month and the mastermind chef himself has confirmed via Twitter: “Construction on Origin Liberty begins very soon.”

Claudio Aprile, the executive chef and owner of popular Toronto restaurant Origin, has recently announced his plans to expand his original restaurant in our very own Liberty Market Building! Origin Liberty, located at 171 East Liberty St., will take over the space formerly occupied by Liberty Noodle.

In a recent interview with The Grid, Aprile reveals his plans for Origin Liberty. Construction of the space is set to commence this month with an opening date of spring 2012. The restaurant will seat 150 people and include a lounge, bar, open kitchen, raw bar, mozzarella bar and a large patio.

The exact same location was considered for Aprile’s current Origin location three years ago, but, for a variety of reasons, the decision was made to open on King St. E. As Liberty Village has expanded and grown over the last three years into a trendsetting neighbourhood, Aprile has come back to rediscover the potential of the former ammunition factory.

Liberty Market Building, located at 171 East Liberty St., will be the new home of Origin Liberty.

Aprile also has plans to open Origin North in the Bayview Village shopping centre by Christmas 2012. He is also chef and owner of the critically-acclaimed molecular gastronomy restaurant Colborne Lane.
